Rillmark

$7.00

Rillmark (n): The mark left by the rills of retreating water after a wave breaks on the shore.

Rillmark is started as a traditionally constructed pi shawl, with lace and texture elements inspired by the place where the water meets the shore. After the body is complete, the asymmetrical border is worked using simple lace and increases. Using less than 600 yards of sportweight yarn, Rillmark is a quick, fun, and elegant knit.

Finished Measurements
70” (178 cm) wingspan, 19” (48.5 cm) depth. Please note that additional length is added to the wingspan by stretching during blocking, which in turn compresses the depth slightly. If preferred, you can block to a true half-circle, in which case your dimensions will be 59 3/4” (152 cm) wingspan, 25 7/8” (65.5 cm) depth.

Yarn
Alpaca/Silk Sport by Skeinny Dipping (80% alpaca/20% silk; 287 yds (262 m)/100 g); 2 skeins or 574 yds in color Salt Marsh
(Note: shawl uses almost all of both skeins of yarn, so make sure to check gauge and/or buy extra if you have any gauge discrepancies.)

Needles
One 32” (80 cm) circular needle in size US 6 (4 mm)
or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge
20 sts and 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch, after blocking
22 sts and 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch, after blocking
